Prom is a night of romance, elegance, and timelessness. It is a night to be romanced, to dance away and remember. It is a night of bustling gowns and roses, a time for friends to hang out, laugh, and have fun. Getting the right prom date requires careful planning. The manner in which you ask can increase your likelihood of getting an affirmative

Asking a Girl to the Prom
Lots of us get stumped when it comes to asking a girl to the prom or any fancy occasion. There are many ways you could ask her, ranging from a picnic in the park, with a note in the basket asking her to be your prom date to writing on balloons will you go to
the prom with me? But by far the best approach is the direct approach. Come right out and ask her, "Would you like to go to the Prom with me?" Dropping hints can be confusing. If you get a no, either choose another girl to ask or make other plans with a friend. If she doesn't give you a direct answer (she may be waiting for someone else to ask her), tell her you'll ask her for a final answer in a couple of days. That way you stay in charge. No matter how many times you've
ask a girl out on a date. Rejection is the worst thing that can happen to a
person and it is something you never get used to. That ever-present possibility of the word "no" being used as a response makes even the most secure person break out in
sweat.
If you did wait until prom
week to ask, you may still find a prom date. Asking someone in a lower grade is a safe bet for guys, because junior girls often make it a top priority to go to prom with a senior. Avoid caffeine, which will increase anxiety. If you are nervous, take slow, deep breaths.
Avoid appearing desperate. Simply remind your intended prom date that the prom is approaching and express your desire to attend the dance with him or her.
Get to know the person you are asking even if it is as simple as making chit chat conversation. If the prom is several weeks away, "prime" your desired
prom date by flirting a little bit. Make them laugh and put your best foot forward. If you're not already dating, think about asking them out. Show the person how well you can get along, and how much fun you have every time you get together. Give them a positive association to think back to when you eventually do ask. Asking someone who's never said a word to you severely decreases your chances of getting a "yes". Who wants to go to the prom with somebody they barely know? You might want to be their date because they're the most good-looking person in school, but that doesn't mean you'll have a good time with them or that they'll have a good time with you.
And remember, it's only the prom!
